When The Division 2’s private beta kicks off later today, players will get to sample part of the sequel’s endgame. The private beta’s endgame mission will also introduce players to one of The Division 2’s cooler surprises. It turns out there’s an entire faction of elite antagonists waiting to disrupt the best laid plans of endgame players. Read on to learn more about The Division 2’s Black Tusk faction.
The Division 2’s Black Tusk Endgame Faction
The Division 2 has a clearly defined endgame starting point. Once a player has cleared the main campaign and reached level 30, they’re officially in the endgame realm. Reaching level 30 also unlocks three unique specializations that each sport a unique signature weapon type. Players will certainly need the extra firepower from their specialization because the Black Tusk doesn’t mess around.
The Black Tusk is a highly-trained group of soldiers who also happen to be sporting some high-end tech. Black Tusk soldiers can deploy explosives, drones, and even bipedal robots when engaging the player. Not only that, but the Black Tusk can also “invade” parts of The Division 2’s game world. “Invaded” missions provide a steeper challenge by remixing and randomizing enemy configurations to keep players on their toes.
Along with standard missions, Black Tusk can also “occupy” certain parts of The Division 2’s Dark Zone. When a Dark Zone region is occupied, the hazard level is boosted accordingly. Full friendly fire is enabled and the usual Dark Zone gear normalization is removed. There’s also no visual indicator showing when a player has gone rogue. In short, players who thrive in chaos should get a kick out of occupied Dark Zones.
With the introduction of the Black Tusk faction, Ubisoft wants to ensure players feel invested in the endgame. The Division was infamous for having a major endgame slump when it first launched, but its sequel should fare better. By introducing a new enemy faction, The Division 2’s endgame remains exciting because it ups the stakes and the challenge. The Black Tusk wants to dismantle what players have spent so much time building. If players want to halt Black Tusk’s efforts, they’ll have to suite up and dive into The Division 2’s endgame.
