Another Doom mod was in the works all this time and is finally complete. These past few days there have been many new Doom mods popping up based on the original Doom engine. The creativity and innovation of the modders are evident, and they bring a new take to the Doom world. Now, we have the Doom 64 remake in Doom 2 completed and available.
Modder “Mechadon” finally released the final version of his Doom 64 remake in Doom 2. Its name is D64D2. In reality, it is, in fact, what its title says: the combination of Doom 64 and Doom 2 in an entirely new mod. It is ready for the fans to enjoy it.
D64D2 ports all Doom 64’s maps and combines it with all the assets of Doom 2. That includes the enemies as well as the objects. “Mechadon” refers to it as a vanilla recreation/re-imagining of Doom 64’s maps. These maps have mainly vanilla assets, which can run in the original vanilla Doom.
Moreover, the mod provides players with some various new features. It is not a literal combination of the two games, because it includes new content as well. That means that there are new graphics and textures in the mod that were not in the two original Doom titles. Moreover, new monsters were also added to this mod. Therefore, you will encounter new enemies that might be equally interesting and strong as the ones featured in the original titles.
Additionally, the music will also be different. “Mechadon” added some new tracks to enhance your experience and underline the freshness of this mod. Of course, the modder kept Doom’s originality intact at the same time. Finally, he added some enhancements to D64D2 for players who prefer the GZDoom engine.
The beta version of D64D2 was previously released, and it did not have all this content. The final version contains over seventy updates and fixes. You can now play the final D64D2 version and experience it to its fullest. You can download the mod from here.
