Today, Activision and Infinity Ward officially announced the next major content drop for Season 6 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone; The Haunting of Verdansk. Featuring two classic movie killers and a special game mode, this two-week Halloween event is due to start tomorrow, on the 20th of October.
Call of Duty: The Haunting of Verdansk
The limited-time “The Haunting of Verdansk” seasonal event will be taking place in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, featuring licensed content from both the SAW and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchises. During the event, players will have access to a “Trick or Treat” reward system, which allows players to gain special Supply Boxes. Furthermore, various modes throughout the game will feature a nighttime version of the Verdansk map, including Warzone itself.
Indeed, Warzone is also getting a special new game mode; Zombie Royale. In this mode, slain players aren’t sent to the Gulag. Instead, they rise in unlife as a zombie, with better speed, higher jumps, stronger melee attacks, and even heat vision. (Although zombies can’t use weapons.) Apex Legends players may have a sense of deja vu, as the mode is rather similar to a Halloween event which Respawn ran last year. Where it differs is that zombified players can rejoin the living. When a player is killed, they drop a syringe. If a zombie can collect two of these syringes, then they’ll be able to parachute back into the game.
Not to be outdone, Modern Warfare is getting its own new modes as part of The Haunting of Verdansk. The first of these is Onslaughter. In this mode, squads compete to seize control of a powerful pumpkin-headed Juggernaut suit and get it into the goal. The second mode is simply Snipers Only – a Team Deathmatch variant with five pre-built loadouts featuring sniper rifles only. Alongside the new modes, players will have access to a host of new Halloween-themed store bundles and more, once the event begins tomorrow. The Haunting of Verdansk will be two weeks long, ending on the 3rd of November.
