Every so often, a new PS5 design “leak” surfaces on social media, and we are forced to take a close look at it to try and determine whether it could be real or not. The most recent one does not appear to have received a whole lot of shares on Twitter, but it will probably be making its way around the web over the coming days. So, let’s take a look at it ourselves and talk about why it appears to be fake.
Why the Latest PS5 Design Appears to Be a Hoax
@AardvarkSwift posted, “Does this ‘leaked’ image and mock up give us a better glimpse into what the #PS5 will look like?” There is a simple design image on the left, and then a supposed photograph on the right of the finished device.
Since the PS5 is supposed to feature a 2GHx GPU clock, frankly, it looks like this model would be too small. This is somewhat relieving, as this design isn’t particularly appealing from an aesthetic standpoint. Well, that might be a matter of opinion, but it sure is odd-shaped without looking that way for any identifiable, logical reason.
We figure there is a good chance we’ll be seeing a few more of these “leaks” showing up over the next couple of weeks. It seems likely that a PS5 reveal will happen soon, maybe even in February. At that point, we’ll know what the console looks like in real life, so that will put an end to the leaks.
If any more leaks do show up, we will share them with you in our PlayStation news section. That is also where we will show you what the console really looks like when the official PlayStation 5 reveal event does take place at long last.
