Earlier today, Epic Games gave a keynote speech at the GDC 2019 event, and during that address the studio announced a whole host of new exclusive titles coming to the Epic Games Store. Some of these have already been released; Quantic Dream will be porting Detroit: Become Human and two other games to PC, for example. However, several have yet to be released, including The Outer Worlds, Control, and The Sinking City.
The Outer Worlds and Others Announced as Epic Games Store Exclusives on PC
During Epic Games GDC 2019 keynote, the company announced that it had entered into a new partnership with Private Division, a label owned by 2K. This partnership means that numerous 2K games will be Epic Games Store exclusives on PC. The list of upcoming titles due now to be Epic Games Store exclusives include; The Outer Worlds, Control, The Sinking City, Industries of Titan, and Afterparty.
The one exception to this exclusivity deal is The Outer Worlds, as reported by PCGamer, which will also be available on the Microsoft Store, but no other platforms. According to Epic, exclusives will also be available through The Humble Store. In most cases, the exclusivity deals will last for one year. After that time, the titles will be free to release on other platforms, including Steam. In addition to the list of exclusives, Epic also stated that it will continue to partner with Ubisoft in the future; Ubisoft recently partnered with Epic to release The Division 2 as exclusive to the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store.
The Outer Worlds is currently in development at Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas. The game has attracted a lot of attention after its announcement. However, the developers have spoken out against fans using it to attack Fallout 76. On the other hand, Control is an upcoming game from Remedy Entertainment, the studio which created the Max Payne series and Quantum Break. Both games are due out later this year.
