The Surge 2 Shows off Pre-Alpha Footage in First Official Gameplay Trailer

Developer Deck 13 and publisher Focus Home Interactive have shown off the very first official footage of The Surge 2 in its first gameplay trailer. The trailer is all based on gameplay from the pre-alpha build of the game so, of course, everything is subject to change between now and the game’s 2019 release window for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can view the entire teaser trailer for yourself below.

The Surge 2 is the sequel to the 2017 Dark Souls-like game with an emphasis on dismemberment and a sci-fi setting. In this sequel to that pretty successful title, players will head to a new location; a sprawling city that has been devastated by the events of the original. This new locale, along with the improved FLEDGE engine that was used for the first game, will allow for a bigger and more ambitious game.

The graphics look slightly improved as well, featuring more varied environments in the teaser trailer. The gameplay trailer seen above focuses on the park section of the city that players will visit in The Surge 2. Robot enemies aren’t the only foes you will have to worry about in this title, as you will have to also face The Hunters, a cunning group of mercenaries.

The Surge 2 still features the dynamic limb dismemberment system that allows you to target and remove different parts of an enemy. It will also have a similarly deep progression system as in the original game. Players will have to contend with new enemies and bosses who have more unique AI behaviors.

You can look forward to The Surge 2 when it releases sometime next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In the meantime, check out our recent posts about Dark Souls Remastered and the Dark Souls Trilogy release dates as they will arrive well before The Surge 2.
