New ‘The Warden and The Paunch’ Trailer Shows Off a Foul New Hero
Earlier today, Creative Assembly released their first ‘Introducing…’ trailer for The Warden and The Paunch DLC, which is due to release for Total War: Warhammer 2 on the 21st of May. This trailer gives fans a look at the new Giant River Troll Hag; a truly disgusting new Hero character which will be available for the Greenskins faction when the DLC launches.
The Warden and the Paunch DLC: Giant River Troll Hag
In addition to a new Legendary Lord, Grom the Paunch, the upcoming The Warden and The Paunch DLC is bringing a small host of new units to the Greenskins in Total War: Warhammer 2; the first new content to come to the race for almost four years. Including in these new units are two new types of trolls. Stone Trolls offer a tougher, magic-resistant variant of standard Trolls. Additionally, the new River Trolls are surrounded by a stench so foul that it actually debuffs nearby enemy units. Finally, there is the Giant River Troll Hag. This new Hero is a much larger and fouler version of the River Trolls.
Glistening with slime and standing more than three times the height of a man, the Giant River Troll Hag is actually a Wizard, although she’s no slouch in close combat thanks to her brutish size and strength. The troll Hero casts spells from the Lore of Death, giving the Greenskins access to a lore of magic which they previously hadn’t had access to. (With the single exception of Azhag the Slaughterer.) In addition, the Hag has ‘Swamp Breath’; a special ability which allows her to projectile vomit a horrible torrent of bile which can decimate an enemy unit with a blast of armour-piercing damage.
Alongside her standard spells, the Giant River Troll Hag also has access to hex abilities like ‘Mither’. This hex allows the hag to target a single enemy unit within 100m and impose a hefty -72% Charge Speed and -72% Speed penalty for 15 seconds. If you want to break the momentum of an enemy charge, or prevent an enemy from getting away, this ability is perfect. It’s worth noting, too, that the Troll Hag has the same ‘Overwhelming Odour’ ability which River Troll units do. This aura affects all enemies within 30m of the hag at all times, imposing -6 Melee Attack.
