There’s a massive mystery in Fortnite right now, and it all has to do with a singular meteor spotted in the sky over the Tilted Towers zone. Players believe it has something to do with the destruction of the much-maligned area of the map, but Epic Games has kept mum on the situation in general since the chatter broke out in the Fortnite community.
Today, however, the situation grew more interesting, as there are now several burning objects seemingly falling from the skies in-game. What does it mean? Unfortunately, no one knows what just yet. It looks like it’s one more long con Epic is content to play with its users, and Fortnite faithful are totally eating it up.
At first, there was simply one meteor. It looked innocent enough – just a blazing light in the sky in a curious place. Then the rumors began. As theories began swirling around on Reddit and the official Epic Games Fortnite forums, players began questioning just what it could mean. The consensus was clear: It must mean that some sort of enormous, world-altering event was about to happen in the neighborhood of Tilted Towers, but what?
It’s easy to see why players would be looking for reasons to see Tilted Towers brought to its knees. It’s a frustrating area that acts as an extremely divisive zone for players, so it’s a controversial spot that would make sense to demolish as the end of the game’s season. But seeing as it just appeared earlier this year via the massive Fortnite patch launched a few months ago, it wouldn’t make much sense to simply reduce it all to rubble and start over completely.
The theory has caught on like wildfire, and the “shooting stars” players are seeing in-game today are giving them even more ammunition to think that Tilted Towers is indeed in danger. But so far, nothing else has happened to shake up the game in a big way other than the smaller pieces of the meteors falling through the sky, and additionally beginning to make sounds.
For now, Tilted Towers is still available. Nothing of consequence has changed. But that could change at any moment, or tomorrow when the Fortnite: Battle Royale servers are taken down for scheduled maintenance. What’s coming? It’s anyone’s guess, but we’ll be around to let you know how things turn out.
