Unlike previous Call of Duty titles, Black Ops 4 might not have a classic DLC cycle. During the reveal event for the upcoming video game, a standard edition of it was announced, however, no Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass made its appearance. This gave reason to fans to believe that there might not be a Season Pass at all, or at least not in the way we used to know.
With the lack of a traditional campaign, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 includes a Zombies mode, a battle royale mode and the game’s classic multiplayer. Can a season pass fit in this pattern though? As we see it, if paid DLC’s are to be released then it could be in the form of additional Zombies maps or new ones for the multiplayer.
If that’s true and a Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass won’t release then there’s a chance that Treyarch will have several free maps coming for the multiplayer mode in the future. This isn’t a scenario far from truth since players have been asking for free new content in the franchise for quite some time.
Having free maps coming to the game frequently means a tighter and more loyal community. With the Season Pass model, older Call of Duty titles used to have less and less players getting into their DLC maps. These are all speculations though, so you should take the information with a grain of salt since nothing is yet confirmed by Activision or Treyarch.
No Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass means no released DLC which actually could hint to more frequent updates with new maps or content. Whichever the case, we will know what form of updates will Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will get when it finally releases on October 12th for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
