A new website out there is letting you make custom Fortnite skins to show off, though unfortunately you can’t actually use them in the Fortnite game. However, it’s still nice to look at, and hopefully skins like what you can make will be in the game in the near future.
Like with most online games that involve microtransactions, skins are a constant fixture in Fortnite, allowing you to customize and personalize your chosen character avatar, whether through microtransactions or through earning them with challenges in the game. However, if you want to exercise your creativity, the new website might be the thing for you.
The website in question, helpfully called make-fortnite-skins.com, allows you to create your own custom Fortnite skins by using parts from other currently-existing skins. Fans have apparently been asking for the ability to mix-and-match skins for a while now, but until Epic Games actually puts in a mechanic like that, this website will have to fill the void.
Which brings us to the main flaw in the site: as a fan site that’s not connected to Epic Games, you can’t import these new skins that you make. It’s an art tool designed to be fun, and nothing more. At the same time, that doesn’t mean you can’t admire what you end up creating.
If you want to get in on the skin-making fun for yourself, you can head on over to the website. Be warned, however, that it’s still in a pretty early beta phase. The skins have a lot of clipping issues, and to prevent different parts from stacking on top of one another you have to deselect the piece you were on originally, but it’s still a good place to try and create a number of custom skins.
Epic will most likely never allow custom Fortnite skins to be a thing (and why would they, giving up what most players likely spend microtransaction money on), so unless you mod the game, you’ll never be seeing these combination skins anywhere in the actual game. But, if you want to make some yourself and see how they look, you can follow the link to the website here.
