Following the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal event today, Activision has released information about three of the new multiplayer game modes which will feature in the upcoming title. These modes will, of course, all be available to play once Black Ops Cold War releases in November.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Modes
To begin with, Activision has confirmed that plenty of the more familiar game modes will all be playable in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Modes like Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Control, among others, will all be available at launch. However, there will also be new game modes, and Activision chose three to detail ahead of time; Combined Arms, Fireteam, and VIP Escort.
The first of these, Combined Arms, is a 12v12 mode which, as the name implies, combines vehicle and infantry combat. Similar – though a bit smaller – to Modern Warfare’s Ground War, Combined Arms will have a range of larger maps, each featuring a different selection of vehicles. Furthermore, there will be sub-modes alongside Combined Arms, such as Combined Arms Domination, etc.
The second upcoming game mode is Fireteam, which is even larger than Combined Arms. This 40-player match features four teams of 10 players. Activision doesn’t go into detail about this mode, but does hint that; “the action is centred around not just the operators in the field, but also the environment they battle in.”
Finally, there is the VIP Escort mode. In this 6v6 objective-based game mode, opposing teams are either on offence or defence. One member of the defending team will randomly be chosen as the VIP, and it will be the attackers’ objective to kill that player. The VIP will only have a pistol, a smoke grenade, and a UAV, so they must rely heavily on their teammates to serve as bodyguards. Their goal is to reach an extraction point on the map.
