Season 5 has brought a big change to the Fortnite Battle Royale island, and players are expecting more changes to come in the following weeks. Unlike in season 4, Epic Games hasn’t been evolving the island this season, but it appears that things are going to get more exciting, and Tomato Town could disappear soon.
This area of the map was recently involved in a small event which included a tomatohead and a rift. The rift brought the tomatohead back, but it looks much smaller now. One could say that the statue looks “dead” and that its more appropriate location would be Haunted Hills.
Epic Games may have hinted at the destruction of Tomato Town with the August 19 event, and frankly, that is what most players would love to happen. Tomato Town has been in the game since its release, yet it’s arguably one of the worst landing spots on the entire island.
This area doesn’t have much loot, and what makes it even worse is the fact that it’s surrounded by hills from two sides. Landing in this part of the island is simply not worth it, and that is why the game developer may make it disappear before this season ends.
Tomato Town is one of a few original areas that has received little to no changes. It is not a significant place, so destroying it would make a lot of sense. Considering that there have been two rifts in this area so far, we can expect the town to disappear through another rift.
Season 5 should bring more changes before its end, so hopefully there will be some big map modifications. The big rift in the sky is supposed to disappear on August 21, which means that Epic Games is already planning some big things. It won’t be surprising if Tomato Town disappears together with the rift, although we will most likely have to wait a few more weeks for big changes.
