Earlier today, we learned the second member of the Madden 21’s 99 Club is halfback Christian McCaffrey. That makes him the highest-rated amongst Madden 21 HB ratings. Unlike the quarterback ratings, it’s not even close when it comes to the next-best player. However many fans feel that player is worthy of a higher rating already.
Derrick Henry rated second-best amongst Madden 21 HB ratings
Just recently we saw rookie halfback ratings for Madden 21. As of an afternoon edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter on Tuesday, July 14, they revealed the top 10 halfbacks after the Carolina Panthers’ McCaffrey. While McCaffrey is a 99 Club member, the Tennessee Titans’ Derrick Henry placed second with a 93 overall. That’s a far cry from where many fans feel the man who was dominating the playoffs last year.
Just behind Henry are the Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb and Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliott who each received a 92 OVR. The Giants’ Saquon Barkley and Vikings’ Dalvin Cook placed fifth and sixth with 91 OVR For the Madden 21 HB ratings.
The numbers are certainly very different compared to last year’s game. When Madden 20 ratings arrived for halfbacks last July, it was Todd Gurley, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams, leading the way with a 97 OVR. Ezekiel Elliott was second with a 94 overall followed by the New York Jets’ Le’Veon Bell and Chargers’ Melvin Gordon at 92 OVR.
Nick Chubb leads in Break Tackle ratings
The NFL on ESPN tweeted out a look at one of the other major attribute ratings for the running backs. The Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb ranks best in Madden 21 HB ratings when it comes to avoiding tackles. Chubb got a 97 rating for that particular attribute.
He’s followed by the Raiders’ Josh Jacobs, one of the stars of last year’s rookie class. The Titans’ Derrick Henry rounds out the top three, but some members of the community feel that once again he deserves better.
More Madden 21 player ratings will be arriving as the week continues. That should include wide receivers and defensive players. More members of the 99 Club will be announced in the coming days on ESPN’s Get Up, while a special will air on ESPN Friday night at 7 p.m. ET covering the ratings.
The new Madden video game arrives on August 28, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Google Stadia.
