At last, The Shadow and The Blade, the fourth Lord Pack DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2, is now available to download and play. Bringing two new Legendary Lords to the game, along with new units for the Dark Elves and Skaven, The Shadow and The Blade DLC is also launching alongside two new free additions; the first Free-LC Legendary Lord for Bretonnia, Repanse de Lyonesse, as well as the “Potion of Speed” game update.
Total War: Warhammer 2 The Shadow and The Blade DLC
Following the format of previous Lord Pack DLCs, The Shadow and The Blade brings a range of new units and a new Legendary Lord to two of the existing races. In this case, those new Lords are Deathmaster Snikch of Clan Eshin and Malus Darkblade of Hag Graef, for the Skaven and Dark Elves respectively. Both of these new characters feature unique campaign gameplay mechanics. This means that they should provide a new experience even for players who are very familiar with the two races.
As usual, Creative Assembly is also releasing an accompanying Free-LC Legendary Lord alongside the new DLC. However, in a deviation from the norm, this third character isn’t from one of the races featured in the DLC. Repanse de Lyonesse is actually a new Bretonnian Legendary Lord; the first new addition to that race since its launch in the first Total War: Warhammer. This time, fans aren’t getting an Old World Update alongside the DLC. However, there is still a major game update launching today. The “Potion of Speed” update is a major quality-of-life patch, named after the fact that it includes a major reduction in end-turn times. (Something which could prove to be one of the most popular new features.)
All of this is now available to download on Steam. This will be the final new content release for Total War: Warhammer 2 this year. At present, it’s unknown what might be next on Creative Assembly’s roadmap. However, an Old World Update for the Greenskins, the only original core faction yet to receive a rework, is expected to arrive in the near future, perhaps as part of the first 2020 update in a few months’ time.
