After months of speculation from fans and teasing from Creative Assembly, the studio has at last announced the next upcoming Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC; “The Prophet and the Warlock”. Mirroring similar DLC expansions like The Queen and the Crone, this new DLC expands two existing factions; the Lizardmen and the Skaven. Both will be receiving new units and mechanics, and a new Legendary Lord; Tehenhauin for the Lizardmen and Ikit Claw for the Skaven!
The Prophet and the Warlock – Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC Announced
The first Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC since Curse of the Vampire Coast, The Prophet and the Warlock was originally planned to release after Total War: Three Kingdoms. As such, Creative Assembly had been keeping news of the announcement very quiet as they focused on marketing their upcoming game. However, with the delay of Total War: Three Kingdoms‘ release date, the DLC is now coming first. The studio released a new trailer for The Prophet and the Warlock earlier today, giving fans their first look at what’s coming in the highly-anticipated expansion.
As many fans have been hoping, the DLC does indeed bring new content to both the Lizardmen and Skaven factions. Both will be getting a new Legendary Lord. The DLC boasts major new mechanics for both factions, including a sacrificial system based around Tehenhauin’s cult of Sotek, and a new settlement system representing the Skaven Under-Empire.
Both factions’ rosters are getting a sizeable expansion, with new units on both sides. Lizardmen will get new Red-Crested Skinks, Salamanders, and new variants of the Bastiladon and Stegadon. Skaven, meanwhile, will get new weaponry and war machines; Warplock Jezails, Ratling Guns, Doom-Flayers, and more! Their fearsome warpstone arsenal will even expand to include Doomrockets and the cataclysmic Doomsphere…
The Prophet and the Warlock is due to release in just a few weeks’ time, on the 17th of March.
