Creative Assembly has now given fans a teaser of what they can expect from the upcoming Festag Update; the next planned content release for the game after The Hunter and The Beast DLC. While it’s still not known exactly what the update will include, one thing is now sure. Fans can expect the next Total War: Warhammer 2 Free-LC Legendary Lord at Christmas.
The Next Total War: Warhammer 2 Free-LC Legendary Lord
This new piece of information came recently when Creative Assembly updated the Free-LC chart to include a new entry; that of a new Total War: Warhammer 2 Legendary Lord. This new Lord will be the sixth such Lord to release for the game. (Not counting Gotrek, who is part of the Old Friends standalone Free-LC.) Of course, fans can also look forward to a larger DLC release at Christmas too. Even if Creative Assembly hadn’t already confirmed as much, this fits a clear pattern; every Free-LC Lord thus far has launched alongside an accompanying DLC.
Tretch Craventail arrived alongside the Tomb Kings Race Pack. Then, fans got Alith Anar with The Queen and The Crone Lord Pack, and Lokhir Fellheart with the Vampire Coast Race Pack. Most recently, Lizardmen fans got two new Free-LC Lords; Tiktaq’to launched alongside The Prophet and The Warlock Lord Pack, while Gor-Rok launched alongside the most recent Lord Pack DLC, The Hunter and The Beast. One interesting trend to note is that in the case of Lord Packs, the Free-LC Lord has always been for the same race as one of the two races in the DLC. Given that there are no more Race Packs on the way, another Lord Pack is very likely.
At present, the only thing we know about the Festag Update is that it will not include an Old World Update, and will instead focus on quality-of-life improvements. As far as this Free-LC Lord is concerned, Creative Assembly has only confirmed that they will not be a Skaven. While this doesn’t rule Skaven out entirely from DLC possibilities, it does reduce their likelihood somewhat. There has been speculation that the Lord may finally be Boris Todbringer, and the timing would certainly make sense; Creative Assembly just launched a major Empire rework, after all. Fans have been asking for Todbringer to be playable in campaign for a very long time. Plus, the studio has said that the Festag Update will include at least one “fan favourite”… For now, fans will have to wait and see.
