The Beyond Skyrim mod project is quite possibly the largest and most ambitious project of its kind that currently exists for the Elder Scrolls series. Split into a whole selection of separate regional mods, the modders behind the project aim to greatly expand the world of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Each part of the overall project is a new region to be added to the game. The team’s most recent update is a new trailer for Beyond Skyrim: Atmora; one of the upcoming mods which is set far north of Skyrim itself.
The Upcoming Beyond Skyrim: Atmora Mod
The brand new trailer, entitled “Winds of the North,” is only a minute long. While it is very eerie and suspenseful, it only offers players a glimpse at the new setting of Atmora; three landscape scenes in total. These consist of the frozen ocean, a ship partly-sunk into the ice, and what looks like a Nord barrow of some kind.
“Far to the north,” reads the video’s description; “an ancient land lies forgotten by history. Featuring a track by our composer Jani Rantanen, Winds of the North is a brief glimpse into the dark, brooding atmosphere and untold mysteries of Atmora. What this ancient culture and land has in store for you, only the Expedition will reveal.”
Like the rest of Beyond Skyrim, the Beyond Skyrim: Atmora mod is still a work-in-progress with no set release date. However, the mod team appear to be making significant progress. Last month, the modders released their first ever Development Diary; a video showcasing the progress of the various mod teams. The Beyond Skyrim: Atmora mod had a segment in the first Development Diary. In that video, the team revealed that two major parts of the Atmora setting were complete, together with five main quest chapters. The video was followed shortly after by the announcement of a new mod project for Beyond Skyrim; The New North.
