For quite some time now, fans of Apex Legends have been asking for a more comprehensive training mode. After all, the game’s existing training mode is relatively limited. Now, Respawn has revealed that fans will be getting what they’ve been asking for in Apex Legends Firing Range; a new training mode with much greater functionality which is coming in Season 3.
The Upcoming Apex Legends Firing Range
Until now, Apex Legends’ existing training mode was primarily designed to get new players acclimatised with the game, not help players of all skill levels to train more generally. As such, players have been asking for a space in the game where they can practice with weapons and Legends. This is particularly important for when Respawn adds new content, as there is currently no space to learn how to use new Legends or weapons other than in matches. That will be changing soon, it seems.
Although there isn’t yet a release date, Respawn recently revealed the Apex Legends Firing Range mode in their first ever “Devstream”. (the section on Firing Range begins at 7:07 in the video below.) As you can see, Firing Range is a much more comprehensive training area, with all of the game’s items and weapons laid out for players to switch between and an array of targets, including some with shields. Players can also switch freely between Legends via an in-game menu. Plus, the mode is open to both solo players and groups, so that squads can practice together.
There isn’t yet a firm release date for Firing Range. However, it will apparently be coming sometime during Season 3, which began on the 1st of October. As such, players should be able to expect the mode within the next couple of months. No doubt Respawn will confirm a release date for the mode closer to the time. For now though, it certainly looks like it will be a welcome addition to the game.
