Over the past days, FPS fans had reasons to get mad at their favorite games. After Battlefield V’s community raging over DICE bringing women soldiers into the mix, now fans of the CoD franchise are engaging a war regarding the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass. Treyarch responds to the backlash.
The subject of all discontent is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass, which is the only means to get the game’s DLC. Apart from that fans feel torn by the idea of having 12 multiplayer maps locked behind paywalls, dividing the community into buyers and free-to-play users. We can’t blame them on that. Treyarch’s FAQ on the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass reads:
“We’re redefining the digital content season for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 by delivering more content with more frequency. In addition to the release of multiplayer maps, zombies experiences and Blackout content, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 players can also expect in-game content and themed events, creating a robust content season.”
However, the developing teams is more than open to listen to feedback and try and work things out with the community of Black Ops 4. They say:
“I want to make it clear that we are very much listening to your thoughts, comments, and ideas. We know the r/ community is passionate and vocal, and it’s a place where we sincerely want to have a two-way conversation.
“We are absolutely committed to supporting the entire community with a slew of free, post-release content that will extend the Black Ops 4 experience with more new ways to play than we’ve ever done before.
A strict Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Season Pass like that looks strange to us right now. After the announcement that games like The Division and Battlefield V are adapting to a live service strategy with free future content, it’s only natural for fans to feel “betrayed” by their own kind.
