As Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s release date draws closer fans get excited by every little detail to hit the internet. From cover art to glimpses at the story and villains, the world has been offered numerous new details on the title in the past few months. A new report delivers yet another peek at what’s to come in the series’ triumphant return as two new characters join the roster.
Avengers Assemble
The titular Black Order will, of course, be lead by Thanos is his quest to gather and weaponize each Infinity Stone. This effort will be thwarted by players taking the role of members of the Avengers, the Defenders, the X-Men, and more colorful characters from the Marvel universe. However, in an exciting addition Game Informer has recently reported the inclusion of Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel. These two staples of the Marvel comic books will be brought to life on screen upon the game’s release.
Hawkeye is a character whose presence in the Marvel universe has been vastly underappreciated. This is especially true for fans of the Marvel movies, who constantly remark on the archer’s apparent uselessness. But don’t get it confused- Hawkeye deserves respect. Besides the fact that the man shot down the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier with a single arrow, he’s an epic marksman, skilled martial artist, and all around good guy.
The art that has been revealed so far indicates that Team Ninja has decided to opt for his more modernized aesthetic. This means ditching the iconic- but incredibly silly- pointed purple mask. Instead, he boasts a more militaristic outfit similar to the one worn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He utilizes his signature bow and arrow as well as an array of different arrows to nullify targets, so expect to see his explosive sharpshooting in full effect.
The second new hero to join Ultimate Alliance 3 is none other than Ms. Marvel. To those familiar with the comics this young polymorph will be a welcome sight. Her charm and demeanor, as well as the representation she championed, has lead her comic series to several awards and commercial success. Marking the first time a Muslim character headlined their own Marvel comic, Kamala Khan’s debut as Ms. Marvel was monumental, to say the least.
While Ms. Marvel has been a mantle adopted by others in the past, including the current Captain Marvel Carol Danvers, Khan is the latest. Her powers are as unique as her personality, as she is able to morph her body into essentially whatever shape and size she determines. Her favored method of dispatching foes is enlarging her fists so that she may easily strike them down. Expect to see these powers and more on full display come launch day.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will hit the Nintendo Switch exclusively on July 19 of this year. The game is being by Koei Tecmo’s infamous Team Ninja, so it’s safe to say the project is in good hands. While fans wait to get their hands on the playable roster of over two dozen characters they will be feverishly awaiting more news.
