You may be aware that Take-Two Interactive recently said that it will charge $70 for its next generation games rather than $60. This may have you worrying about whether you will also have to pay more for next gen games from other developers. Thankfully, we have some good news. If you will be buying PS5 or Xbox Series X games from Ubisoft, you will not have to pay extra. Ubisoft will keep next gen games affordable.
Ubisoft Will Keep Next Gen Games at $60
During a financial call, Ubisoft announced that it will only charge $60 for games on Xbox Series X and PS5. That is for games which are already confirmed, of course, not for all next gen games for the indefinite future. A price hike is still possible later down the line. But in the meantime, if you want to purchase games like Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and so forth, you are only going to need to pay $60, not $70.
Indeed, it seems hard to imagine that prices will not go up eventually across the board for next gen games. After all, games are more expensive to make than they used to be. So, it only makes sense to charge more. For that reason, we are guessing that this is more of an “introductory price” of $60 for these early next gen games. Down the road, we would think that Ubisoft is likely to raise its prices as more and more people make the jump to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
