Following the announcement that the Cyberpunk 2077 release date was to be pushed all the way to September, CD Projekt Red revealed a few important details of their future plans. Perhaps most notable was the reveal that their triple-A project coming in 2021 is ‘Cyberpunk Multiplayer‘. Now, the studio has announced that they plan to reveal “previously undisclosed” Cyberpunk 2077 content sometime next week.
“Previously Undisclosed” Cyberpunk 2077 Content
At present, it’s unknown what this Cyberpunk 2077 content will be. The announcement will be made as part of CD Projekt Red’s appearance at the Taipei Game Show, which officially starts on the 6th of February. While CD Projekt Red has often used events like this to show off content, it has typically always been behind-the-scenes. Even at E3, most Cyberpunk 2077 content for the last two years has only been shown behind closed doors. As such, this is something of a break from tradition. Indeed, it may be meant to either allay fears that the game is in a troubled state, or sate fans left disappointed by the recent delay.
However, because CD Projekt Red has revealed so little content for Cyberpunk 2077 so far, there is little precedent to look at for a guess at what sort of reveal this may be. It could be relatively minor; new screenshots, behind-the-scenes footage from development, or a new piece of music, for instance. Alternatively, it could even be a new trailer or gameplay video. The latter is less likely what with CD Projekt Red’s track record. However, they may assume that they need to win back fan goodwill after the delay. A new trailer or look at gameplay would certainly do that.
While it doesn’t include the “previously undisclosed” Cyberpunk 2077 content teased by CD Projekt Red, a video which the studio plans to release at the Taipei Game Show appears to have been leaked ahead of time. This video does feature some gameplay footage behind developer commentary. However, it mostly focuses on the process of localising Cyberpunk 2077 for a Chinese audience. Indeed, several sections of the video are in Chinese.
