Upcoming Co-op Shooter GTFO Gets a Behind-The-Scenes Trailer

It’s been a while since last we heard any news about developer 10 Chambers’ eye-catchingly-named co-op shooter GTFO. However, 10 Chambers has now released a documentary-style behind-the-scenes trailer which shows just how far GTFO has come.

GTFO behind-the-scenes trailer

The 11-minute trailer focuses on both GTFO’s familiar and not-so-familiar co-op elements. In some regards, GTFO feels similar to co-op games like Payday 2 or Left 4 Dead. You control a small band of four pre-set characters and must battle monstrous denizens of an underground complex. However, 10 Chambers stresses that the monsters aren’t zombies and they’re not aliens.

One part of the trailer actually touches on the various iterations of monster designs the GTFO team went through. Some early concept art shows monsters which looked more like something out of Silent Hill. The final designs, however, are more akin to sci-fi horror creatures like those found in Dead Space.

Throughout the extensive trailer, 10 Chambers stresses that GTFO is a game where teamwork is of the upmost importance. Most co-op games put a minimal emphasis on proper teamwork, but not so with GTFO. If you’re not using every available weapon and tool at your disposal, chances are you won’t survive The Complex. 10 Chambers harkens it to survival-horror games where you’re constantly running low on resources.

Speaking of The Complex, 10 Chambers says it wanted to avoid the typical muted browns and grays of sci-fi interiors. As the trailer shows, parts of The Complex are surprisingly bright and colorful (though no less deadly). According to GTFO’s designers, Ridley Scott’s first Alien movie influenced both the game’s lightning and color schemes.

GTFO doesn’t yet have a release date but 10 Chambers says it’s planning a Steam PC launch for spring, 2019.
