In a recent news update on the game’s official website, 4A Games gave console players of Metro Exodus information about the next upcoming patch. Preceding that patch will be a hotfix, due to the launch this coming week. The Metro Exodus update will follow shortly after. 4A Games plans to address a “range of issues,” including reported problems with controls.
Metro Exodus Update for Consoles on the Way After Incoming Hotfix
4A Games latest news update gives console players a rough idea of what they can expect in the next Metro Exodus update. According to the studio, player feedback has already drawn their attention to a number of issues which require resolution. As such, there will be a smaller hotfix, followed by the update itself. A specific release date for the hotfix isn’t given. However, it will apparently come sometime next week, after the 4th of March. The patch itself will launch; “shortly after”. According to the studio, exact dates for the release will be published once the studio knows themselves, following the console Certification process on Microsoft/Sony’s end.
One issue which 4A Games specifically addresses is the current console controls; “We are aware that some players are reporting that the controls on console don’t ‘feel’ right,” they explain; “and we are investigating these reports as a priority. Metro Exodus is by a design not a ‘twitch shooter’ but gamepad controls should feel responsive, accurate and free from excessive lag/latency. We are testing a range of tweaks and adding a new sensitivity preset that will be deployed in the Hotfix, and we will further refine these in the following patch.”
4A Games recommends that players having problems with console controls check their TV settings; apparently, settings or modes which add image smoothing, post processing, and similar effects can reduce the responsiveness of game controls. Hopefully, however, the upcoming patch will resolve this issue for affected gamers.
