Battlefield fans are just three days away from the release of Battlefield 5 Lightning Strikes; the second chapter of the game’s Tides of War post-launch content schedule. Lightning Strikes is set to bring several new game modes. In addition, and just like Overture, it’s also launching alongside a major game update. One of the game’s lead developers teased some of the changes coming in this patch last week. Now, players can read through all of the changes, as DICE has published the full patch notes online.
Update Notes for Battlefield 5 Lightning Strikes, Chapter 2 of Tides of War
The Battlefield 5 Lightning Strikes game update is the first update for Battlefield 5 in 2019. It introduces a new Squad Conquest game mode, as well as Rush and at least three new weapons. However, the game update launching with it is also bringing some more subtle, though still significant alterations. Most relevantly, it apparently includes some major improvements for the game’s “Time of Death and Death Experience.”
“The name of the enemy that has killed a player is now shown in the game world when the player has died,” reads the patch notes; “This highlights the killer and helps players understand who killed them and from where, especially in crowded situations.” Additionally, a camera will now follow and zoom onto the person who killed you when you die, letting you see where your killer is. Incoming bullets should be more visually accurate, including the appearance of tracers, and the UI directional damage indicator point has also been improved; it should now appear more promptly on-screen and point more accurately towards your attackers.
The full patch notes span around seven pages, and can be read in full here. As teased by Florian Le Bihan last week, SMGs in particular have received a number of alterations and bug fixes. Hopefully, players who currently have concerns about balancing or bugs will see them addressed when this update goes live on the 17th of January.
