Until now, the only way for gamers to get access to the Valorant closed beta was to watch a handful of Twitch streamers to whom Riot Games had provided access codes. After people had watched a certain amount of content, there was a random chance that they could receive an access code. Now, Riot Games is opening up their system and allowing all Valorant Twitch streams to grant access to their viewers, not just a few.
Valorant Closed Beta Access Can Now Drop From Any Stream
As of today, you can be in for a chance of receiving Valorant closed beta access for watching any streamer playing the game on Twitch. Note, however, that drops aren’t on by default – streamers will need to manually enable them in their Twitch console first. If you’re looking to do just that, you simply need to click “Drops,” create a new Drops Campaign, then enable it.
Gamers hoping to get beta access should also bear in mind that watching more content doesn’t give you a better chance of getting a code. So long as you have passed a certain threshold of content watched, you’ll be in for an equal chance of getting a code. Additionally, Riot Games has clarified that they aren’t increasing the number of drops that are available, at least for now. That means that, although more streams will be dropping beta access, this shift doesn’t mean that more gamers will start getting access than before. This could change in the near future, however.
Due to the enormous demand for Valorant beta access, Riot Games has had to be strict when it comes to how many they allow in at once. After all, the game’s server capacity is only so large at present. However, the studio has said that they will be increasing their server capacity. The first increase occurred on the 10th of April, expanding capacity by 25%, but a further increase is apparently on the way. Riot Games has yet to confirm an exact date for this increase, noting that carefully managing their server load is a core part of the beta process.
