Last week, after teasing an upcoming announcement, Creative Assembly released a trailer for their next upcoming DLC; Curse of the Vampire Coast. The expansion will be the latest for Total War: Warhammer 2, which was released by the studio just over one year ago. Many fans noticed the shanty which Creative Assembly used as backing music to the trailer, and asked if it would be released separately. Now, it has been.
The Tattered Sails Shanty From Curse of the Vampire Coast Trailer
Creative Assembly released the “Tattered Sails Shanty” earlier today; the complete audio track features both shanty-singing and a particularly epic orchestral theme. Unfortunately for fans hoping for a full-length shanty, the video is only one minute and twenty seconds long; it doesn’t seem like Creative Assembly actually composed an entire shanty, which is fair given that it was only made for the trailer. In fact, if fans hadn’t asked for it so much, the studio may not have released it at all; the shanty’s description on YouTube begins; “You asked for it, you got it. The Curse of the Vampire Coast Shanty is here.”
Despite the relatively short length, however, it seems that fans of the first trailer are more than happy. In less than 24 hours, the OST has accrued over 100,000 views and 10,000 likes; certainly an impressive ratio of views to likes. It’s unknown if the theme will actually feature in-game when Curse of the Vampire Coast releases. However, even if it does, it seems likely that it would be reserved for the occasional cut-scene. Given the brevity of the track and its dramatic tone, it likely wouldn’t suit being looped on the game’s strategic map or during a long battle. Whatever the case, the Tattered Sails Shanty certainly lends the upcoming faction of the Vampire Coast an impressive main theme.
