Vanaheim Tower: How to Face the Toughest Realm Tear in God of War

Vanaheim Tower is one of the many different Realm Towers in God of War. These towers are arranged around the edge of the Lake of Nine, surrounding Tyr’s Temple and serving as gateways to the other realms. More than that, each tower is also worth exploring for loot and collectibles, and Vanaheim Tower features something particularly noteworthy; a Realm Tear which is a strong contender for the most challenging Realm Tear in the game.

Vanaheim Tower can be entered and explored as soon as you arrive at the Lake of Nine. However, a large portion of the tower will be inaccessible until after you return from Alfheim. The tower can be found southwest of Tyr’s Temple. To access the temple initially, you’ll need to cross Tyr’s Bridge. After you move the bridge, however, you can dock your boat at a beach below the tower.

Where to Find Loot in Vanaheim Tower

Just inside Vanaheim Tower is a More Than Myth shrine. This particular shrine is dedicated to the World Serpent himself, Jormungandr. From the main room, pass through a series of Scorn Poles and jump down to a lower area. On the left-hand side a wooden tower is another Scorn Pole, and behind it is a Legendary chest containing a Muspelheim cipher piece. The path beyond leads you up into the Foothills region.

Returning to the Tower with Light Arrows

Once you return from the realm of Alfheim, Atreus can use his new Light Arrows to shoot light crystals above the tower’s three sets of doors. Doing so will spawn a Realm Tear. Beware, for this Realm Tear is very likely the most challenging one in God of War. Before you challenge the Tear, you can also return to where the Legendary chest was located and use a Light arrow to shoot another crystal. This allows you to place the crystal in a socket and access a Lore Marker.

How to Beat the Realm Tear in Vanaheim Tower

When you open the Vanaheim Tower Realm Tear, it will release a pair of Level 6 Revenants. These enemies spray poison almost constantly. If you are able to force one of them into the hallway, do so; it is much easier to fight them separately than together. Similarly, block as much you can to stop the Revenants inflicting poison on you. Patience is key here; attacking over-aggressively will only get you poisoned and eventually killed.
