It hasn’t been long since the release of Nuka Dark Rum; the Fallout franchise’s latest foray into the beverages market. Now, Fallout fans can try their hand at cooking up some wasteland cuisine as well, thanks to the Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook. The cookbook, published by Insight Editions, was written by Victoria Rosenthal and is now available for pre-order.
Fallout: The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook
The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook is no small tie-in book. The hardbound cookbook consists of almost 200 pages of Fallout-inspired recipes; “Based on the irradiated delicacies found in the award-winning Fallout video game series,” states the product description; “this Vault-Tec approved cookbook provides fans of the game with over seventy recipes inspired by their favorite Fallout foods. Whip up tasty versions of Yum Yum Deviled Eggs, throw some deathclaw meat on the grill, and recreate BlamCo Mac & Cheese with Fallout: The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook.”
Hopefully, the recipes don’t require any significant doses of radiation. Although, as an actual nuclear physicist recently explained; the food in Fallout probably wouldn’t be that dangerous to eat… though you might want to avoid meat; “stuff in tin cans I think would be OK,” says Professor Paddy Regan; “what you’d be more worried about is eating bits of meat, or cows that had been grazing on the fields in the three or six months after the attack happened”. So, either keep a Rad-Away handy, or make sure that you get your meat from non-irradiated areas before cooking!
The Vault Dweller’s Official Cookbook is currently available to pre-order from Insight Editions, Amazon, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, and IndieBound. The book will launch on the 23rd of October, a few weeks prior to the release of Fallout 76. The author, Victoria Rosenthal, has run the Pixelated Provisions blog since 2012, where she blends cooking with video games.
