Getting frustrated by all the marked-up PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles that are showing up on online marketplaces? So are retailers. In fact, one retailer called Very canceled more than 1,000 scalped console orders recently. Let’s take a look at what happened and what it means for legitimate customers.
Very Canceled Scalped and Legitimate Console Orders
Very canceled over 1,000 console orders. The retailer told Sky, “As a result of a technical error, some people were able to place orders for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles for a short time on Sunday. However, these items are not on sale and affected customers have received notice that the orders have been cancelled. We apologise for the confusion caused.”
The good side of this is that Very managed to stop a bunch of PS5s from making their way to the overpriced secondhand market. The bad side of it is that Very had to cancel all the orders made within that time period. That means some legit buyers also will not be receiving their consoles, and will get refunds instead. Some of the refunds are processing slowly. Buyers who are waiting on refunds for over a week may not have the funds they need to grab a console elsewhere in time for the holidays.

Regardless, it seems that when Very canceled all these orders, it did its best to try and protect legitimate shoppers and give them a chance to get next gen consoles at fair prices. Still haven’t found a console to buy? Sony said more PS5 inventory is going to be available before the year is over. So, keep an eye on retailer pages.
