Apex Legends has seen massive success since its launch two weeks ago today. With more than 25 million players and counting, it’s clear it’s one of the biggest games in the world right now. However, that success has now started to seep over to other games like Apex Construct, despite being unrelated to each other and not even made from the same team.
The only real correlation between the two games is similar titles. Apparently, though, this is enough for Apex Construct to receive a lot of success in the last couple of weeks. For those who don’t know, the game is a VR-only title that is available on Steam and PlayStation VR. Much of this success is due to Chinese gamers who may have confused the two games.
For one, Apex Construct costs $29.99 while Apex Legends is a totally free game. Also, Construct is available on Steam for purchase whereas PC players will need to head to EA’s Origin service for Legends. Regardless, the similar titles have led to an increase of more than 4000 percent in terms of visits to Construct’s Steam page.
The Apex Construct developer even recently announced on Reddit that the VR game has sold more copies in China in the last seven days than it did in the entirety of 2018. While this is a surprising development for the company, it is likely that many players will get refunds once they realize that this is a singleplayer game and not a Battle Royale game.
Also, Apex Construct is, unfortunately, the latest victim of poor reviews recently as some players are not too happy about purchasing a game that isn’t Apex Legends. We’ll have to wait and see if this success for Construct will continue as Apex Legends is still not available in China just yet, though, we do expect that to happen soon.
