Now and again, a retailer posts something they shouldn’t, accidentally leaking art or a release date or other details for a forthcoming game. But it isn’t too often that we see a retailer leak the (apparent) existence of a whole bunch of games. But that’s exactly what just happened with Walmart Canada.
Twitter user Wario64 posted the list along with a screenshot:

If you look at the image closely, you’ll see some games listed which we already know are on their way such as The Last of Us 2, Metroid Prime 4, Insurgency Sandstorm, Beyond Good and Evil 2, The Division 2 and the remake of Final Fantasy 7.
But it also includes these:
• Just Cause 4
• Splinter Cell
• Dragon Quest 2 (PS4/XBO)
• LEGO DC Villans
• Borderlands 3
• Rage 2
• Gears of War 5
• Forza Horizons 5
• Assassin’s Creed
You’ll notice some of these are kind of odd. The Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed titles are unspecified. Are these reboots? Are they remasters? Are they sequels? Amazon Canada did briefly list a “Splinter Cell 2018” recently, so this is the second time we’ve seen a potential leak for a new Splinter Cell game.
And what is going on with “Forza Horizons 5?” We have a “Forza Horizon 3,” but there has never been a “Forza Horizon 4,” and there shouldn’t be an “s” on “Horizon” at all.
The page with the listings has already been removed, as expected, but it gives us a lot to ponder about. Are these real games, or were they just placeholder listings? Even if they were only placeholders, did inside knowledge factor into the titles the employee chose to enter in? We’ll just have to wait for E3 to find out the truth.
