Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s First Batch of Sanctioned Mods Are Now Live

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is just one of many Steam games that has a developer-supported modding community, and now the game’s first batch of ‘sanctioned’ mods (i.e. mods that developer Fatshark has approved for use with the core game) are officially live.

As Fatshark explains in this sanctioned mods announcement post (http://www.vermintide.com/news/now-live-sanctioned-mods/, Vermintide 2 on PC is currently split into two different online game servers. There’s the official server which offers the full vanilla Vermintide 2 experience, and there’s a testing server where players can test out any fan-made mod that they wish (naturally any progress made in the testing server doesn’t transfer over to the official server). However, sanctioned mods are a special list of hand-picked modifications that have been approved by Fatshark for use on the official server.

Sanctioned mods are finally here.

Currently, there are only 11 different sanctioned mods available, and they mostly take the form of minor UI alterations or improvements (such as an indicator that lets a player know when they need to reload their ranged weapon). However, more dedicated players will definitely want to check out mods like ‘Stickygrim,’ which is meant to prevent accidental Grimoire discards, and ‘Waypoints,’ which lets users set custom waypoint markers on the ground that can be seen by all others who have the mod installed.

The full list of sanctioned mods can be found via the above announcement post. Also, Fatshark promises that the criteria a mod needs to meet in order to be considered for sanctioning will evolve over time, so there’s a good chance that more elaborate mods will be approved and added to the sanctioned list in the future.

In other recent RPG news, Bethesda has said that a remaster of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is unfortunately not very likely. On a more positive note, BioWare has promised that, should its upcoming sci-fi game Anthem fail to meet critical expectations, it won’t mean the end of the studio.
