Watch The Official Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Launch Trailer

With about two weeks left before launch, the official launch trailer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has officially arrived. This final pre-release trailer teases more of Sekiro’s tense combat and acrobatic stealth gameplay. Viewers also get their first glimpses of new boss encounters and of the game’s titular protagonist speaking at last.

The trailer starts with a bang right from the get-go. In the opening moments, Sekiro is battling a large rampaging bull whose antlers have been set aflame. According to From Software, this new boss is appropriately titled as Blazing Bull. The Blazing Bull footage also teases one of Sekiro’s cooler-looking ninjitsu skills. Moments before an enemy’s attack connects, Sekiro can trigger the skill to blink out of existence and reappear nearby.

The rest of the trailer is a harmonious balance of cinematic dialogue and gameplay footage. Some scenes even show Sekiro speaking, a feature which From Software previously confirmed. There’s also an entire sequence which shows off Sekiro’s other unique trait: self-resurrections. If an enemy bests Sekiro, he can resurrect right on the spot where he died and continue the fight.

Naturally there’s also a lot of boss fight footage peppered throughout the trailer. Sekiro will have to battle boss enemies both big and small in his quest to rescue his lord. The bigger bosses may look intimidating, but Sekiro’s smaller foes will be no less deadly. Indeed, some enemies, like the agile Madam Butterfly, can utilize the same ninja tricks as Sekiro himself.

Some may argue the above launch trailer “gives too much away,” but I don’t agree. Personally, I think the trailer succeeds in its intended goal: teasing fans with new footage without revealing too much. I’m willing to bet Sekiro has plenty of additional surprises not seen in any of the game’s trailers.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launches for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on March 22. If you’re thinking of getting the PC version, make sure your rig meets its minimum system requirements.
