All Weapon and Perk Changes in the Latest Modern Warfare Patch

Earlier today, Infinity Ward rolled out a major new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare patch, bringing two new Spec Ops missions to the game, as well as new multiplayer modes. Of course, the patch also includes plenty of bug-fixes and balance-tweaks for the Modern Warfare weapons, perks, killstreaks, and so on. These include some significant feature changes too, such as allowing thermal scopes to see through smoke grenades.

How the New Modern Warfare Patch Affects Weapons, Perks, & Killstreaks

First among these three key areas are the Modern Warfare weapons. On the whole, the new patch only brings a few changes to the game’s arsenal, focusing more on general fixes and Spec Ops. However, there are a few noteworthy alterations. The only actual weapon to be re-balanced was the FN SCAR 17, which got a reduction to its bipod grip and barrel penalties, which simultaneously slowing down its ADS speed slightly. The turret on the Infantry Assault Vehicle also got a nerf to its lethality and damage radius. Meanwhile, a fix has been applied to an issue which was causing camos for rocket launchers and the Model 860 from unlocking or tracking correctly. Charms should now also display correctly.

In the realm of attachments and field upgrades, all optics with scope glint now have updated descriptions. The F90 will also no longer have scope glint when fitted with an FFS Ring Sight. Finally, an important change; thermal scopes now have the ability to see through smoke grenades. While smoke grenades themselves weren’t altered in this patch, two other grenades were. The red light on Decoy Grenades will now be visible to both allies and enemies. Meanwhile, Snapshot Grenades will now show player outlines slightly brighter than before.

The new patch only includes one change for the game’s Killstreaks; a fix for an exploit affecting the Shield Turret. Players will no longer be able to see through smoke when looking at the right angle. While killstreaks weren’t much changes, there were several changes and fixes for Perks. The Quick Fix perk should now correctly grant players faster regeneration after they score a throwing knife kill, for instance. A bug which caused players to lose HUD elements after hacking an enemy claymore with the EOD Perk has been fixed, while players with the Amped perk should now stow the Riot Shield correctly. Finally, the Spotter perk should now correctly mark equipment, field upgrades, and killstreaks through walls in FFA, as well as UAVs. Outlines should also be slightly brighter now when using the perk.
