Ever since fans first got to play it during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s very first pre-release event, Gunfight has proven to be an extremely popular addition to the franchise. Infinity Ward recently launched a Tournament Beta for the mode, and variants for solo play and 3v3 are reportedly in the works. However, before that, players have gotten the Modern Warfare Gunfight O.S.P. mode, an all-new variant launching as part of Season One.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight O.S.P. Mode
While the title might seem a little opaque, the mode is actually quite a simple variation on the standard Gunfight. O.S.P. stands for On Site Procurement, and the key difference is that players don’t start with weapons and equipment. Ordinarily, players spawn with a preset loadout in Gunfight, with that loadout changing every couple of rounds. In the new Modern Warfare Gunfight O.S.P. mode, a frantic new element is introduced; players must scramble to find weapons before they can engage the enemy.
Players can find weapons throughout the Gunfight maps, either on walls, or on the ground. The maps also include extra gear like different grenades. Other than this, the normal rules for Gunfight apply, so you’ll be aiming to eliminate your two opponents. If you don’t do this in time, you’ll have to quickly capture the flag instead.
In Gunfight O.S.P., players generally won’t have time to hunt down the best weapon, or find the one they’re best with. Instead, the strict time limit and frenetic nature of the mode will often make whatever the closest weapon is the best choice. As such, players will likely need to use a range of different weapons round-to-round, rather than using the same familiar firearm. It’s also important to note that Stims can be found among the equipment in this mode. This invaluable item will put you back to full health when you use it; an extremely potent advantage in a mode like Gunfight where you only have a single life.
