When Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 4 first launched, two new weapons were provided as rewards in the free tiers of the Battle Pass; the MG 82 and the C58. By now, players may well have reached Tier 31 and unlocker the latter of these two; a powerful new assault rifle which is well worth taking a look at.
Black Ops Cold War Season 4 – The C58
“Full-auto assault rifle,” writes Treyarch, of the new C58; “High damage at close range with a slower fire rate. Fast bullet velocity and reliable recoil control with less ammo capacity.”
In essence, the C58 Assault Rifle offers players hitting power and steadiness at the expense of fire rate and ammo capacity. Plus, it is one of the most accurate Assault Rifles in the game (only the Krig 6 can beat it in this category). All of this adds up to a weapon which rewards accurate marksmanship while allowing for more sustained fire than a Tactical Rifle. Of course, players should be aware of its weaknesses if they plan on taking it into battle.
The biggest weakness of the C58 is not its slow fire rate (made up for by its high damage and stopping power) but rather its ammo capacity. By default, the C58’s magazine holds only 20 rounds; fine for eliminating a single opponent but not well-suited to protracted engagements. This weakness can be addressed with Magazine attachments, of course. (Or Speed Tape & Stock attachments to improve handling and reload speed.) Although players may prefer to accept the low capacity in order to lean further into a different style of play.
It should be noted that, while it may suffer when it comes to fire rate and capacity, the C58 is still one of the most powerful assault rifles in the game. The base damage is more than enough to make up for the lower fire rate. Indeed, the weapon to take down enemy Operators with ease, provided you line up an accurate shot.
