With the launch earlier today of Apex Legends Season 8, players can finally get their hands on Fuse, the latest Legend to join the game’s roster of playable characters. Featuring a style of play which leans heavily into explosives, Fuse brings a new option for players which is considerably different to any other Legend.
Apex Legends Season 8 – Fuse’s Abilities & Style
When it comes to Fuse’s style of play, expect that you’re going to be blowing things up. In terms of the basics, that’s pretty much it. Fuse can rain devastation upon his opponents with all manner of abilities and grenades. However, when you delve deeper into his skillset, you’ll find that he actually boasts surprising precision. His Passive skill, Grenadier, allows him to carry one more grenade per Inventory Slot than any other character, providing him with an ample arsenal. However, it also allows him to use his mechanical arm to shoot grenades rather than throwing them. This makes them travel further, faster, and with greater accuracy.
Fuse’s other skills, however, are a little more indiscriminate; something clearly demonstrated by his Tactical ability, Knuckle Cluster. This ability allows him to fire a cluster-bomb. When it detonates, it releases a cloud of airbursting mini-explosives which detonate on impact. This cloud releases continually for several seconds, making it just as disorienting as it is damaging. It’s ideal for a shock-and-awe approach, causing opponents to panic or lose sight of you amidst the cloud of munitions; all while you and your teammates open fire.
Finally, Fuse has The Motherlode, his Ultimate ability. This huge mortar launches a barrage of ordnance which explodes in the air, raining down a ring of fire on the target area. Not only does this damage opponents, but it also hems them in, trapping them within the ring. This makes foes much more vulnerable to Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster or grenades… unless they want to push through the flames and take damage.
