Far Cry 5 released six weeks ago today. Since then, the game has enjoyed enormous success; new figures recently released by Ubisoft revealed that the game made more in its launch week than Black Panther did at the domestic box office in its own launch week. As a result, many gamers are now looking ahead to Ubisoft’s post-launch schedule of DLC.
Ubisoft has yet to formally announce release dates for its three planned DLC packs. Anybody who bought the game’s season pass or gold edition will be able to download the new Far Cry 3 Classic Edition on the 29th of March, four weeks before it becomes available to everyone. The actual DLC, however, has no such concrete date.
Far Cry 5’s DLC Packs
Ubisoft has announced three separate DLC packs for Far Cry 5; Hours of Darkness, Lost on Mars, and finally Dead Living Zombies. When Far Cry 3 released back in November of 2012, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon didn’t come out until April of 2013, a full five months later. However, the more recent Far Cry 4 was rather different. The first DLC pack for that game released just two months later. Far Cry 4’s three DLC packs released monthly from January to March of 2014.
Given the high demand for more content for Far Cry 5, Ubisoft is surely focused on sating their audience and keeping them invested in the game. As such, fans should hopefully not have to wait as long as it took for Blood Dragon to release. Given that a trailer has already been revealed for all three packs, it seems unlikely that fans will be kept waiting. It is worth noting, however, that Ubisoft plans to provide post-launch updates and content to Far Cry 5’s Arcade Mode as well. That could delay the launch of DLC to an extent, but whether it will or not remains to be seen.
