Fortnite Battle Royale has been one of the most popular video games for the past five years. Thanks to its fun gameplay, it has managed to break numerous records since September 2017. Even though the battle royale genre is very popular, Fortnite separated itself from the rest of the pack with frequent updates and unique gameplay mechanics.
Building is what separates Fortnite from other battle royale games, yet this mechanic was removed in Season 2. Yes, you read that right. Fortnite players can no longer build walls to protect themselves and they have to use natural cover. This drastic change was implemented at the start of the season, but many players are wondering when building will come back.
Why was building removed from Fortnite Battle Royale in the first place?
Building was removed from Fortnite as a part of the Season 2 storyline. Dr. Slone, who was on the opposite side of the island, finally drilled through the ground and managed to get to the same place as the loopers and The Seven. In the Season 2 trailer, she can be seen using the device to disable buildings.
According to The Imagined, one of the characters of The Seven, building will come back to Fortnite. However, players will have to fight to get the building mechanic back. It’s safe to assume that The Seven and the players will have to beat Dr. Slone in order to achieve this.
While it is a huge change, it doesn’t affect competitive modes. Furthermore, it’s just a temporary change that will soon be reverted.
When will building come back?
According to leaks, building will be re-enabled on Tuesday, March 29. This might be the day Epic Games releases a new set of weekly Fortnite quests and allow players to build once again. However, it is important to note that the game developer hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
Epic had been working on the no-building game mode for a few months and many players are happy to finally see it in the game. After the building mechanic comes back, we can expect the no-building game mode to be a separated Fortnite game mode. After all, it will most likely gain a lot of popularity in the first week of the new season.
