Where to Find and Farm Ethanol in Far Cry New Dawn

Among the many new resources in Far Cry New Dawn is Ethanol; a resource with a singular purpose. Ethanol is the sole resource which you need to upgrade the eight facilities in Prosperity, and as such, it’s the key to progressing to the higher tiers of the game. However, you won’t find any Far Cry New Dawn Ethanol tucked away in the wilderness or in enemy camps. Instead, you can only acquire Ethanol through one of three ways.

Where You Can Find Far Cry New Dawn Ethanol

The first and most obvious method to acquire Ethanol is as a reward for capturing a Highwaymen Outpost. All 10 Outposts in the game award you with between 100 and 450 Ethanol when you capture them, depending on their tier. Note that you’ll get slightly more Ethanol if you capture an Outpost undetected. As a result of this reward system, the ability to “Scavenge” and replay Outposts is vital for stocking up your Ethanol supplies. (And the most efficient way to farm it.) When you scavenge an Outpost it becomes home to a larger group of higher-tier enemies. However, the Ethanol reward for capturing it increases.

The second and third methods to getting Ethanol are less reliable and more opportunistic. The easier of these is to find Ethanol in Supply Drops. Now and then, you may come across a Supply Drop being dropped from the skies over Hope County. These crates are covered with yellow tarpaulins and release bright yellow smoke, making them easy to spot. A small number of Highwaymen will usually spawn and guard the drop if you don’t get there quickly. The loot found inside a supply drop is random, but it can include between 35 and 40 Ethanol. As such, this isn’t a reliable method to farm Ethanol, but it doesn’t hurt to go out of your way whenever you see a drop.

The final method to get Ethanol is to capture a Highwaymen tanker truck and deliver it to an Outpost. These trucks are often accompanied by Highwaymen vehicles, and will also rarely stop, making capturing them tricky. Ideally, take them on with a co-op partner or Gun-for-Hire; drive your vehicle up close and slightly ahead of the truck and let your companion shoot the driver. Once you have the truck, simply drive it back to any Outpost and you’ll receive 75 Ethanol as a reward.
