Grizzly bears are one of the most dangerous animals in Far Cry 5. Their pelts are also among the most valuable. Hunting grizzly bears is no easy task, but prospective hunters can follow a few key steps to successfully farm these lucrative pelts.
A single grizzly bear pelt can be sold for $180. There are pelts in the game worth more – Jackalope pelts sell for $350 – but those are much harder to find. While hunting the huge animals can be dangerous, farming grizzly pelts is an effective method of amassing wealth. Worth noting is the Clinical Study mission. This mission requires you to hunt grizzly bears, allowing you to gain a number of pelts, but players looking for a reliable supply should head for the Whitetail Mountains.
There are six grizzly bear hunting points scattered around the mountains. However, the spot which appears to spawn the animals most frequently is located close to the F.A.N.G. Center. Head west from the Center, follow the road around Mocassin River and turn south. Take the first main road on your right. Before you continue around the first bend in the road, disembark and head south into the forest. This spot has been found to respawn grizzly bears very quickly – more so than other hunting areas.
The first step to hunting grizzly bears is the same as for hunting anything. Bring Boomer with you. The canine companion is the best aide for hunting, as he will sniff out bears and mark them for you. Bait is unlikely to be helpful. Bait attracts a random animal, so the chance of attracting a grizzly bear is relatively low. Beware when hunting grizzly bears; the animals are very fast and aggressive.
From here, simply scout around in this hunting area. While bows are useful for hunting stealthily, only explosives damage animal skins. As a result, using a heavy firearm like a machine gun or shotgun is often more effective for bringing down grizzly bears. If you’ve already completed this week’s live event, you could even use the new Shovel Launcher to bring them down.
