In just a few weeks, the customers who pre-ordered the Madden 20 NFL game will finally get their hands on the title three days early. When they do, they’ll have access to all the new features, plays, and players. While gamers recently learned about the Madden 20 rookies’ ratings for the upcoming game, the other players remained a mystery. As of Monday, July 8, there was a revelation about Madden 20 players rated 99 overall in the new football title, though.
Madden 20 players rated 99 overall in the game drops to four
When the Madden 19 title launched last year, there were a total of seven players with a 99 rating in the game. They included quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers as well as receivers Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski. On the defensive side, Aaron Donald, Luke Kuechly, and Von Miller were all part of the annual “99 Club.” That number will drop for the Madden 20 game, due to the rating system changes.
A tweet from the @TheCheckDown Twitter account on Monday teased that there will be just four Madden 20 players with a 99 rating. They revealed cutout images of the players too and asked for the gaming community to register their guesses as to which NFL stars will have that level of ratings in the 2020 installment of the football title.
That Twitter post immediately kicked off the speculation as to which of the league’s players are deserving of the Madden 20 game’s 99 ratings. With four players being part of the exclusive “99 Club,” it would seem that there will be two from the offensive side and two from the defensive side of things.
Who are the players in the 99 Club this year?
The first name that quickly comes to mind is none other than the official cover athlete Patrick Mahomes, though. It would seem to make sense that Mahomes has a 99 as the leader of the franchise in its latest year. The Kansas City Chiefs QB threw 50 touchdowns last season, so why not? Well, while Mahomes is pretty great, so is the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers. In fact, they mentioned him as one of the best in terms of throwing skills in Madden quarterbacks.
The other offensive star that many gamers are guessing is wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The 6-foot-1 Houston Texans star had 115 receptions for 11 touchdowns and 1,572 yards this past season. He was second in total receiving yards to the Falcons’ Julio Jones, though. Jones also had a 300-yard game.
Could the other offensive star be a running back? Two names quickly come to mind. Ezekiel Elliott led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,434 last season. The New York Giants’ rookie Saquon Barkley was second with 1,307 and did some amazing things in his first year. Does he warrant a 99 overall already?
The two choices for defensive Madden 20 players rated 99 overall seem a bit more clear cut. Two particular players were considered the best of the best last season and should carry 99s heading into the new season. They are Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams and Khalil Mack of the Chicago Bears.
Both teams qualified for the postseason thanks to these guys. Donald recorded 20.5 sacks, 41 solo tackles, and four forced fumbles. Khalil Mack had 37 solo tackles, 12.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. He also had one interception in his debut game where he took the ball to the end zone for his new team.
It should be a matter of days before gamers officially find out which Madden 20 players are rated 99 overall. Keep in mind, even those players who failed to reach the club still have a shot based on weekly performances in the NFL this season.
