As players go around collecting Hyena keys, upgrading the settlements, and trying to reach the gear score cap, you might have noticed something strange in The Division 2. For some reason, The Division 2 Castle Settlement is gray on the map screen. This is really bizarre for several reasons. For one, most settlements in the game are green once you reach them.
So, what’s going on with The Division 2 Castle Settlement? Why is it gray instead of green? And this is all even after you arrive at the destination. We are going to go over what we know about this odd situation. Is it a bug or is there another reason for this? In this guide, we are going to let you know the answers to these important questions.
Why Is The Division 2 Castle Settlement Gray?
For starters, there is a bug associated with this location. Players wouldn’t be able to do the story mission related to it or were locked out afterward. Thankfully, that bug has been fixed in a recent patch. But the problem is, the Castle Settlement is still gray for many players on the world map.
In fact, it’s still gray for this author’s game, too. So, what’s the deal? Well, it’s not a bug actually. If you don’t like spoilers, turn away now if you haven’t reached The Division 2 Castle Settlement. We missed it, too, during the story missions but it is explained that this settlement is a failed one.
It is basically a husk of its former self, which makes it empty and useless to the player. That’s why it shows up gray on your world map. It has no purpose currently but it does beg the question of why it even shows up then? Well, you can fast travel to it so perhaps it will be rebuilt in later content. We hope so because a castle is an awesome place.
