In an unsurprising turn of events, Rockstar Games have kept quiet about their game, which is only 6 months away from launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 is due to launch on October 26, 2018 and yet only two trailers have been released with little to no plot details or even gameplay footage. Only a dozen screenshots have been released, most of which were given out in apology for delaying the game back in January. So, the question poses – will Rockstar Games delay Red Dead Redemption 2 again?
There’s many arguments for why it will be and why it won’t. First of all, the game has almost nothing known about it except for unconfirmed information that was released by Trusted Reviews a few months back. This information claimed the game was going to have fishing, a battle royale mode, and went into more detail on how the multiplayer aspect worked.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed twice already after being revealed all the way back in 2016 for a 2017 launch. It’s now almost May 2018, and we still have not received any gameplay footage or even information. Fans have been gaining expectations that another delay is almost imminent.
Not to mention that Take-Two skipped Red Dead Redemption 2 on their last conference call (however the next one will be on May 16). From all this evidence, a delay seems most logical. However, the recent leak of the Art of Red Dead Redemption 2 book on Amazon, which has a confirmed release date of October 30, implies otherwise. Other evidence for the game not being delayed is the fact they haven’t actually said anything yet, and the CEO of Take-Two himself (Strauss Zelnick) said previously that he was “confident” the game would not be delayed again.
We have a feeling that marketing will be beginning anytime soon for Red Dead Redemption 2 – outlets such as GameStop are getting advertisements displaying the October 26 release date. This week, Game Informer will reveal their next issue, which has a high probability of being Red Dead Redemption 2 – Game Informer have covered Rockstar titles with exclusive previews in the past. It’s backed up by editor Andy McNamara posting a picture of him wearing a Rockstar Games shirt. We reached out to Senior Editor Andrew Reiner, who mentioned that they will not be teasing the cover ahead of the reveal (an obvious response). We’ll have to see, most likely on Tuesday, if this will be the case.
The question remains if Red Dead Redemption 2 will be delayed. As of this point, things are looking better from the recent leak of the artwork book and the upcoming conference call. You can never be too skeptical, however.
