Eager for fresh content in World of Warcraft? We don’t have too much longer to wait for World of Warcraft Shadowlands. This expansion will be the eighth to make its way to WoW. When will Shadowlands be available, and what can we expect from the expansion? Let’s check out the details.
Shadowlands Release Date, Summary and Features
First of all, when will the WoW Shadowlands expansion finally arrive? As of right now, the official page for the expansion just says, “Coming 2020.” But we can expect it this autumn. Indeed, executive producer John Hight stated in a livestream, “You have our commitment that we will be releasing ‘Shadowlands’ this fall, even if we end up shipping it from our homes.”
Even though the release is set for fall, you do not have to wait to buy it. Blizzard is taking pre-orders for the upcoming expansion set now. According to the official description of Shadowlands, “The veil between life and death is no more. With a single act of destruction, Sylvanas Windrunner has ripped open the way to the afterlife. Azeroth’s staunchest defenders have been dragged into all-consuming darkness. An ancient force of death threatens to break its bonds and unravel reality.”
The description continues, “Hidden realms of wonder and horror await any who would pass to the other side. The Shadowlands is home to an entire realm of the departed; it is a world between worlds whose delicate balance preserves life and death itself. As one of Azeroth’s greatest champions, you have been granted the power to cross over in body and soul. Now you must investigate a conspiracy to unmake the cosmos, and help Warcraft legends journey back… or fulfill their ultimate destiny.”
Shadowlands is going to bring players five brand new zones to explore along with a new player hub called Oribos, The Eternal City. Also, a brand new feature is called Covenants, of which there will be four. Once you choose one, you’ll be able to participate in a unique campaign for that Covenant. With that campaign will come access to a wide range of exciting benefits. Another new feature is an infinite dungeon called Torghast, Tower of the Damned. This tower gives you a fresh, unique experience every time you play through it.
