Wraith has long been one of the most popular characters in Apex Legends. Indeed, a recent poll found that she currently ranks as the most popular Legend, ahead of Bloodhound and Horizon. However, Respawn feels that she is currently too powerful, and have now revealed plans to bring her “under control” in Apex Legends Season 8.
Apex Legends Season 8 Will Rework Wraith
Speaking in a recent episode of The Third Party, an Apex Legends podcast which is available on both Apple and Spotify, Respawn Senior Game Designer Daniel Klein spoke about the current state of Wraith. “I don’t want to hit her kit any more,” he explains; “we’ve pushed that to the breaking point where it’s barely still fun, but the extreme wind-up on her tactical (as much as it was necessary) it puts the ability more into the camp of cerebral power rather than satisfying in the moment power.”

Indeed, Wraith’s abilities, which provide her with unique mobility options among the Legends roster, have been tweaked repeatedly in previous seasons. However, it seems that Respawn won’t be focusing on this area in Season 8. Instead, Klein suggested that they could focus on hitboxes instead. “We’re going to take a look at her hitboxes and see how much wiggle room we have,” he said; “with Pathfinder, it turned out that we had so much – that was a 20% increase in hitbox size.”
Wraith’s relatively small size certainly does give her some sort of advantage in-game, as hard as it may be to quantify. As such, this may prove to be a good area to rework in Season 8. In fact, if it does help to balance Wraith, Klein went on to hint that it could help make her more fun to play. He stated that the developers will; “look at ways at making her more in-the-moment fun again,” to counter the many nerfs which have been applied to her abilities.
