Writer Supposedly Leaks PlayStation 5 Reveal Date

With COVID-19, both Sony and Microsoft are facing a lot of uncertainties that could impact the release dates for their next gen consoles. But in the case of Sony, we haven’t even seen a full reveal yet of anything beyond the DualSense controller. As we all await a reveal with bated breath, Games Beat writer Jeffrey Grubb has leaked a possible PlayStation 5 reveal date.

What Grubb Said About the PlayStation 5 Reveal Date

Grubb posted on ResetEra, “Currently planned for June 4” in response to another user who was wondering when the reveal event might take place. So, that was a surprisingly specific response.

How viable is this rumor? Grubb is a trustworthy source, and he did previously leak accurate dates for Nintendo Directs just this year. So, he could have some inside information, even though his statement is by no means official.

Of course, just because something is planned for a certain date does not mean it will take place on that date. Maybe Sony really is planning to reveal the PlayStation 5 on June 4th. But contingencies could arise. If they do, there is a possibility that the event might take place later. But it is also feasible someone could bump up the date for one reason or another as well. With coronavirus in full swing, it is pretty hard to say what obstacles might come up between now and November.

Are you looking for additional information about the release date and pricing for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X? Both Sony and Microsoft maintain that they will release their next gen consoles during the holiday season this year. But there is nothing solid right now. Price estimates from analysts range between $450 to $600. You can catch up on the most recent rumors in our PlayStation news.
