The WWE 2K Battlegrounds roster reveals continue, as the new game promises over 70 superstars. We’ve seen many of the biggest names in professional wrestling, from the past and present, over the last month. Now we have a number of other major superstar videos revealed for the game including AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins. They also have revealed the entire roster for the base game and post-launch.
WWE 2K reveals new superstar videos
The original Battlegrounds trailers have shown us a lot of superstars, but they didn’t reveal them all. To give more WWE 2K Battleground roster reveals, they’ve been releasing small in-game gameplay clips on social media. It shows off two superstars battling in a match using what appear to be their power-up moves.
Monday (Aug. 17) brought us the newest of these mini-video clips. It features “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles battling “The Demon” Finn Balor. Those two are considered amongst the best in the business today, so many fans interested in the new game will love having them available.
Over the weekend, we got a look at two more superstars considered amongst the elite pro wrestlers right now. They are none other than “The Monday Night Messiah” Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens, both of whom have held a number of championships during their time.
That group of wrestlers joins a growing group that has included John Cena, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Andre the Giant, Big Show, The Undertaker, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and more. See below for the entire list of superstars coming to the game.
Full WWE 2K Battlegrounds roster revealed
In addition to those new clips, 2K also revealed their full WWE 2K Battlegrounds roster. It shows off which superstars are available in the game when it launches, aka the base game at launch, as well as those who become available post-launch.
As previously mentioned, gamers who pre-order the game ahead of release date will get bonuses, depending on the edition. Both the Standard and Deluxe include the Edge Totally Awesome Pre-Order Pack. That brings the Rated-R Superstar as a playable fighter.
In addition, those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition get three versions each of Ronda Rousey, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin with their game. Check out pre-order details here.
Battlegrounds to allow fan superstar creations
Not only have we seen a number of superstars for the WWE 2K Battleground roster, but another detail arrived with the game. During a presentation of the WWE 2K game modes, Paul Heyman revealed that fans will be able to create and customize their own superstars for use in the game.
Based on what we saw in the video, those creations can get pretty outrageous, with the option to create what appears to be monsters, robots, aliens, and other types of fighters. The player then takes their superstar through matches to earn Vanity or in-game currency. That brings them more skills and customization gear as shown below.
It should allow for plenty of creativity for those who enjoy making their own playable superstars in the WWE 2K games. Some fans will embrace it, others will hate it, because it’s not 2K21. However, it will be the wrestling game many play until that next WWE 2K sim title arrives.
The new WWE 2K Battlegrounds game drops on Sept. 18 for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
