The WWE 2K22 roster may have doubled, based on a brand new video that arrived online. Over the past several weeks, the development team and others involved in creating 2K22 have been showing behind-the-scenes footage. The latest one features WWE Hall of Famers Booker T and The Nature Boy Ric Flair, along with a look at the face-scanning technology used for the game.
Ric Flair and Booker T featured in face scan preview
Since there was never a WWE 2K21 game, many fans are anticipating the next installment in the franchise. That’s especially true after the previous game, 2K20, had glitches and issues from the release date onwards. That led to poor reception for the game and caused 2K to abandon the title for a year in favor of WWE 2K Battlegrounds.
With the unveiling of a WWE 2K22 trailer during WrestleMania weekend, fans are excited to see more of what’s coming. They’ve been getting teases here or there over the weeks since WrestleMania took place.
The @WWE2Kdev Twitter has been providing sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos to keep fans updated. Basically, these are giving insight into the work that has gone into and may still be going into the upcoming game.
In the video below, Ric Flair and Booker T appear, with each getting face scans. The video shows off Flair entering the rig they use and a few shots of Booker T doing facial expressions.
According to the tweet, this is a “brand new scanning rig” and will have “80 high resolution cameras” plus an “all new software map.” Therefore, many are expecting it to make the superstars’ faces look more realistic than ever.
Realism is a big deal for sports video game enthusiasts, especially when it’s a game like WWE 2K where looks can be great, or horribly bad. Based on the information that’s been teased, it seems they’ve upgraded, and that could mean the game will look better than ever.
Will Flair and Booker T appear on WWE 2K22 roster?
As of this report, there are no confirmations of either Ric Flair or Booker T as being “playable superstars.” That said, if they were getting face scans done, it seems likely both of these legends will be in the game in some capacity. That could mean appearing on promo clips, as ringside managers, as guest interviews, or even as superstars.
Both guys are seen getting just face scans and wearing professional or business attire, similar to how they’ve appeared in recent years. For a while, Flair was linked up with his daughter Charlotte’s feud, Lacey Evans, and served as a ringside manager. However, Evans revealed she was pregnant. With that, she had to take time away from the ring, and WWE scrapped the story.
As for Booker T, fans see the multiple-time champion on a panel on pre-shows and post-shows for WWE events. That may be what his face scan was for in the video above. Both guys could easily appear amongst legends for the WWE 2K22 roster, though.
With that, so far, just two superstars appear like they’re confirmed for use in the ring. Rey Mysterio and Cesaro are featured in the WWE 2K22 teaser trailer below that arrived during WrestleMania 37 weekend.
